Justin Newton
Justin Newton is the CEO and co-founder of Netki, the leader in digital ID validation solutions for Web3. Netki’s solutions help wallet providers, exchanges, banks, fintech, governments and any company using blockchain technology comply with recent FATF, FINMA and FinCen guidance, while maintaining the principles of privacy and autonomy on which blockchain and digital assets were founded. Justin co-authored the BIP-75 standard for Travel Rule in 2016, predicting where both the industry and regulators were going. He was recently Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Digital identity initiative, and you can read the paper from the working group here.
Prior to Netki, Justin was a tech executive leading four consecutive companies to billion dollar IPO’s. In 1998, Justin helped take AboveNet, a leading Internet Infrastructure company public, followed by NetZero, the world’s largest free ISP in 1999. Justin was then EVP of IT for Demand Media, now Leaf Group where he was responsible for preparing their technology platforms and IT infrastructure for the stress tests and audits required in advance of their public filings. Immediately prior to founding Netki, Justin was CTO of Blackline Systems whose SaaS accounting software was considered a key financial control for multiple “Too big to fail” banks helping to ensure the improved stability of the banking system after the 2008 collapse.
