Born to Jamaican parents, Kwayera is a first-generation American - identifying as a Jamerican.

Trained as a professional ballet dancer, Kwayera toured for a decade before founding the award- winning NYC-based Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy, Inc. at the age of 24.

Kwayera’s model programs, culturally intelligent management systems, and community organizing strategies grew Ifetayo into a multimillion-dollar company. In 2014 Kwayera received an award from the Obamas at the White House for designing and leading one of the nation's best arts and humanities youth programs. Kwayera’s proven strategies for cultural relevancy and wellness in communities has become the hallmark of her international consulting firm, Global Ase. Kwayera works with communities as a strategist, thought partner and visionary developing strategies for community building. Kwayera holds MS in Community Economic Development with a concentration in Community Organizing and a MA in Non-Profit Management from Southern New Hampshire University and is a graduate of Columbia Business School's Executive-Level Graduate program.
