Kevin Comerford
President | Service Champions
Kevin grew up in Pleasanton, CA in an area known as “Chicken Alley.” He attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and graduated with a journalism degree. He fell in love with business and he sold out to the idea of developing people. After Kevin’s folks retired, he stayed with Service Experts for 6 years, 3 years in – it was sold to Lennox. Kevin had great success inside the company, being promoted to run at one point, 15 of the locations and manage over $70m in revenue. In October, 2002, he officially left Lennox to head back to his roots and pursue new business ventures, which resulted in incredible levels of success.
Kevin took 6 months to plan his new venture, creating a multi-location strategy that he envisioned would be $50m in revenue. In March, 2003, Service Champions in Northern California was born. The business exploded to $15m in revenue in just its fourth year of business.
The focus was giving clients extraordinary service and providing superior training for all of his team members. Kevin’s passion was to develop his people both personally and professionally. In 2019, Kevin was approached by multiple private equity firms, who, like he, fell in love with the business.
The alignment between Service Champions and The Wrench Group in the areas of culture, taking care of clients and team members, made the decision to join an easy one. On July 1st, 2020 (in the middle of the pandemic) Service Champions sold to Leonard Green (The Wrench Group). Ironically, Service Champions’ June 30th financials, on a twelve-month rolling period, achieved $50m in revenue for the first time. Under Kevin’s continued leadership and heavy engagement, Service Champions has continued to see explosive growth close to 30% year over year.
In 2021, it is projected that Service Champions will finish north of $70m in revenue at 20%+ EBITDA. His family is made up of his beautiful wife, Carolyn, and his awesome 3 children, Emily, Brendan and Landon. Fitness, health and daily gratitude help drive the positive spirit and energy that Kevin brings to life every day. His belief to always make your future bigger than your past keeps him on the forefront of innovation and excellence.
